Simone Tempestini controlled the race from start to finish
Driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 and with Carmen Poenaru on his right, Simone Tempestini took the lead from the very first kilometers of the rally. The only moment he lost first position came after special stage number 3, when Norbert Maior temporarily moved ahead for just 0.8 seconds. The absolute national champion reacted immediately and managed to win 7 of the 10 scheduled special stages.
One of the highlights of the competition was the traditional night stage Şanta, where thousands of spectators watched the duels between the crews and created one of the most spectacular atmospheres of the season.
“It was as I expected, a rally full of intensity, where the smallest mistake can take you out of the game. Fortunately, that was not the case for Carmen and me this weekend. We enjoyed the motorsport, and the fact that there were so many people at the events means a lot to us”, declared Tempestini at the end of the competition.
General standings after the first 5 stages
The victory in Sibiu allows Simone Tempestini to increase his lead at the top of the championship, the driver accumulating 174 points after the first 5 stages of the season.
The next round of the National Rally Championship is scheduled for September 5-6, when the crews will meet at the Iași Rally, a new stage held on macadam.
